It’s not every day that we get to work on a historical home, especially in La Porte, TX. And you may or may not have heard of it because it’s a neat, little hidden gem on the coast. At first glance you might think you’re looking at the White House in Washington, DC but then you remember that this house is in Texas!

A little history reveals that the traditional Colonial-style mansion, designed by architect Alfred Finn, was built in 1924 for former Texas Governor Ross Sterling, the 31st governor of the Lone Star State. The mansion, also known as the First Texas White House, is located on six acres in La Porte, TX.

The Ross Sterling Mansion was recently sold via auction to its new owners. And it needed a big renovation to bring it up to code. Starbrite got the call and it was an honor to help bring life back to this historical beauty.

There was a huge transformer located on the bottom floor that had to be removed and disposed of properly. We were able to get it out safely and then update the mansion’s electrical wiring and bring the home up to code.

If you are ever in La Porte, I highly recommend making it a priority to go by this historical mansion and check it out!!

We love the diversity that we get to be a part of and the challenge that these projects bring to the table. We can do it all!!
